The BSH Registration Policy
The Policy determines how your kitten/cat will be registered with the GCCF.
As we often get asked about the policy we have created some Pictorial Guides to help you navigate it, we hope you find it helpful.
The Infographics are created from the 2026 Council approved Registration Policy that is available on the GCCF website in the British Breeds page.

When you look at the tables provided by the BSH BAC, the guidance is this:
The Registration Policy tables show the register in which any kitten might be registered.
• The most desirable parents are listed in the second column and offspring of these combinations will be registered on the Full Register (provided there is nothing in the previous 3 generation pedigree that prevents this). Breeders are encouraged to aspire to producing kittens on the full register.

• The third column shows allowable colour/pattern matings. These matings will result in registration on the Supplementary/Genetics Register.

• Colours / patterns which should NOT be used as parents are shown in the fourth column. Experienced breeders may use these matings for specific purposes but need to be aware that they will need to breed back to acceptable cats until the fourth third generation can return to the Supplementary Register
• Cats on the reference register may not be shown.
